WORLD SIGHT DAY

OCTOBER 10

World Sight Day (WSD) is an annual global event held on the second Thursday of October to raise awareness about vision impairment, blindness, and eye health. It's a call to action to address avoidable blindness and vision loss.

The day was initiated by the Lions Clubs International Foundation in 2000, and is now coordinated by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB). The objective of this awareness day is to raise awareness about blindness and vision impairment, promote eye health and prevent avoidable blindness and also advocate for accessible and equitable eye care services.

The 2024 theme for World Sight Day is "Love Your Eyes", with a special focus on child eye health. This year's campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of eye care for young people and inspire children everywhere to prioritize their eye health.
